Course Content

Understand what CBT is, its history, how it works and is used as a treatment before and after sessions with patients. You’ll identify key areas CBT can benefit but also who offers CBT services in the UK.
In this section, you’ll recognise the characteristics of CBT therapists, look at CBT sessions in detail and how to build rapport with clients. Also, you’ll learn the importance of timekeeping and confidentiality.
This unit illustrates how emotions, thoughts and behaviours are interconnected. You’ll be introduced to several theories and models that explain the concept of emotion. Uncover techniques that change a client’s mindset.
Discover the stages of awareness and change, and learn how to develop motivation with specific techniques before beginning your assignment.
Gain insight of psychiatric disorders that benefit from CBT, including anxiety, phobias and depression. You’ll also acquire knowledge of behaviours and concepts, like impostor syndrome and self-sabotage.
An explanation of the characteristics of CBT. You’ll be introduced to psychological triggers, confidence and strength building, self-talk, with specific detail to gratitude, resilience and cognitive distortions.
Identify key CBT techniques that therapists use to treat patients. From muscle relaxation to breathing exercises, thought stopping, as well as systematic desensitisation and graded exposure to treat phobias.
This final unit will summarise what CBT is all about. There are two detailed case studies read through and a whole section on setting up your own business once you graduate.
